Custom Lenses

Alfa Chemistry has a wealth of expertise in creating unique lenses for clients in many different industries. You can get lenses from us that are intended exclusively for UV to IR applications. We use crystalline materials like germanium and silicon along with substrates like UV-fused silica and glass. Alfa Chemistry offers top-notch service from inquiry to delivery for all types of lenses, including plano-convex, cylindrical, and aspheric.

Wide Range of Applications

From aspheric to spherical lenses, Alfa Chemistry has been supplying lenses for a range of uses. When utilizing lenses, many optical aberrations might be introduced. When the incident beam is focussed differently after exiting the lens, spherical aberrations take place and blur the image. The angle of incidence of the light beam can affect how sensitive spherical lenses are. Multiple lenses inside the system or aspheric lenses might be used to remedy this spherical aberration.

Chromatic aberration occurs when light waves of various wavelengths are concentrated at various locations as a result of dispersion. This is due to the material's refractive index being wavelength-dependent. Bonding a lens with a high refractive index to a lens with a strongly positive low refractive index results in achromatic lenses that can be adjusted for both hues. To correct for chromatic aberrations in three colors, one can utilize complex achromatic triplet lenses.

Our Capabilities

To make sure they fit your precise needs, all custom lenses are tested in our metrology lab and then completely visually inspected by our QA staff. The manufacturing services we offer for visible applications employing a variety of optical materials are listed below. Because UV and IR substrate technologies are specialized, manufacturing capacities may differ. Alfa Chemistry welcomes your inquiries as we continually grow our capabilities.

Quality Assurance

  • We test infrared optical coatings on a spectrometer.
  • We check the radius of curvature and the irregularity of the spherical surface on an interferometer.
  • We perform spectral scans on a spectrophotometer at multiple angles of incidence and different polarizations to check optical coatings.

Advanced Optical Coatings

Alfa Chemistry can also customize a variety of coatings on our customers' optical lenses to enhance their transmission, durability or other properties. Our coatings include, but are not limited to:

  • Diamond-like carbon coatings that increase the durability of a surface.
  • Hydrophobic coatings that repel water from the surface.
  • Anti-reflective coatings, such as broadband coatings, that optimize transmission at a specific wavelength or in a certain wavelength range.
  • More specialized coatings, such as ITO coatings, oleophobic coatings, and anti-fog coatings.
