Custom Fresnel Lenses

A Fresnel lense consists of a flat surface with spaced concentric steps, each of which corresponds to the surface of a conventional lense. As a result, every step functions as a prismatic-like refractive surface. This allows the Fresnel lens to have a common focal length comparable to that of a conventional lens, but with only a fraction of the thickness. Fresnel lenses have a lightweight, thin construction. They are excellent in magnification, collimation, and light collection.

Advantages and Uses of Custom Fresnel Lenses

Alfa Chemistry can provide custom Fresnel lenses designed to customer requirements. Our Fresnel products are divided into several categories, but they are all made of polymer materials. Custom Fresnel lenses are primarily used for spotlighting applications, but can also be used in illumination systems and image formation systems due to their magnification capabilities. Our highly skilled professionals test each product in our cutting-edge metrology lab to ensure it meets standards. For more information about your needs for custom Fresnel lenses, please contact our technical sales team.

Our Capabilities

Alfa Chemistry provides a selection of glass or PMMA Fresnel lenses that can be produced to your unique requirements. Fresnel lenses can be produced as an array or as a single lens on the same substrate. The precision custom Fresnel lens series is perfect for simulators and projection systems because of its strict tolerances, increased surface quality, and huge aperture sizes. Antireflective coated custom Fresnel lenses are additionally readily accessible, in addition to a variety of uncoated custom Fresnel lenses. Below are examples of our standard manufacturing capabilities.

Types of Fresnel Lenses

  • Imaging Fresnel Lenses

Imaging Fresnel lenses use segments with curved cross sections. These lenses are capable of producing clear images.

a. Spherical: A spherical Fresnel lens is similar to a simple spherical lens and helps focus light on a single point.

b. Cylindrical: Cylindrical Fresnel lenses are similar to simple cylindrical lenses and use linear elements with a circular cross-section.

  • Non-Imaging Fresnel Lenses

Non-imaging Fresnel lenses have flat cross-sections in their sections. They do not produce a clear image.

a. Dot: Non-imaging point Fresnel lenses have ring-shaped segments with cross sections. This type of Fresnel lens focuses light to a small point. This lense is commonly used for solar power (focusing sunlight on a solar panel).

b. Linear: Non-imaging linear Fresnel lenses use straight segments with a straight cross section rather than curved lines. This type of lens focuses light into a narrow band. This lens is commonly used in the solar power industry.
