Job Description
The fellow applicant will collaborate with a diverse team on research and development of cutting-edge optical photonics products for medical instrument optics, laser optics, electronics, and optoelectronics. The applicant is anticipated to focus on advancing innovative ideas from their preliminary technical phases to a point where they can have an impact and influence on business and applications. Supporting the creation of internal and external research proposals, assisting with proof-of-concept demonstrations through simulations, fabrication, and experiments, and disseminating research findings articles and intellectual property development through reports, conference proceedings, and peer reviews are all part of a role's responsibilities. The applicant is anticipated to assist with the implementation of ongoing projects and make a contribution to the creation of fresh research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- The candidate should have a strong technical background and practical experience in the field of optics and photonics.
- Plan and execute research based on group objectives and scientific research results and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant literature.
- The candidate will need a fundamental understanding of scientific and engineering principles in the field of photonics and optics, as well as the hands-on ability to conceptualize, model, and characterize new products. This includes the use of modeling and laboratory tools to design, simulate, fabricate, and test devices.
- Candidates should have a record of innovation as evidenced by high quality journal and conference publications, contributions to government funded basic research programs, and/or patent applications.
- Candidates must be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills and strong problem solving skills.
- Document and analyze experimental results; disseminate research results.
- Responsible for part of the safety management system and risk assessment.
Job Requirements
- A master's degree in physics, optical science or a related field.
- More than 3 years work experience. Experience in experimental research is preferred.
- Preferred candidates will have project management experience and will need to be familiar with emerging materials and structures for photonics and optical systems.
- Knowledge of a photonics project, procedure or system and the ability to use this knowledge in day-to-day work will also be considered an advantage.
- Possess project design, experimental team formation and laboratory management capabilities.
- Highly motivated, organized and responsible individuals who can work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
