Magnesium Fluoride Components

Magnesium fluoride (MgF2) is a robust material that resists chemical etching, laser damage, and mechanical and thermal shock. It has a Nucleus hardness of 415 and a refractive index of 1.38. MgF2 transmits over an extremely wide wavelength range. Optics made from MgF2 are available for the entire wavelength range from 0.12 μm (vacuum UV) to 8.0 μm (IR). MgF2 transmits well into the VUV region up to the hydrogen Lyman-alpha line (121 nm) and beyond. Alfa Chemistry provides our customers a wide range of MgF2 optical components for UV and IR applications.

Magnesium Fluoride Components

MgF2 windows offer excellent broadband transmission from the deep UV to mid-IR. DUV transmission makes them well suited for Hydrogen Lyman-alpha line and UV radiation sources and receivers, as well as excimer laser applications. Alfa Chemistry's MgF2 windows are polycrystalline VUV grade with excellent UV transmission from 120 nm to 7 µm. We can also provide AR coatings.
