Custom Laser Crystals

The most common laser crystals, such as Nd:YAG, Yb:YAG, Nd:YVO4, Nd:GdVO4, Nd:YLF, and Nd:KGW, may all be customized by Alfa Chemistry. On the end face, there are options for both standard and brewster cuts. Also available for customization are Ti:Sapphire, Nd:YAP, LiSAF, LiSGaF, LiCAF, and diffusion bonded crystals that have been doped with Cr and Ce.

Alfa Chemistry can deliver laser crystals with short lead times and bespoke dimensions. The highest standards for polishing, wavefront distortion, and high dielectric coating damage thresholds are met by custom laser crystals.

Customizable Laser Crystals

The following include but are not limited to customizable laser crystals from Alfa Chemistry:

Yb:YAG Laser Crystals

Yb:YAG is a good laser gain material. Yb:YAG crystals offer a wider absorption bandwidth than frequently used Nd:YAG crystals, which lowers the need for temperature control in diode lasers. High-power diode-pumped lasers and other potential uses for Yb:YAG are possible.

  • A fractional heating rate of less than 11%
  • Very high slope efficiency
  • 8nm@940nm, broad absorption bands
  • High mechanical strength and thermal conductivity
  • High caliber optics

Nd:YAG Laser Crystal

Nd:YAG has been and will continue to be the most widely used laser crystal. Nd:YAG is widely used in near-infrared solid-state lasers, as well as their frequency multipliers, triplicators, and higher-order multipliers because it combines the excellent benefits of several basic features.

  • Mechanical strength, High optical quality.
  • Good thermal conductivity and thermal shock characteristics.
  • High gain, High efficiency, Low threshold, Low loss at 1.06 µm.

YAG Laser Crystal

Ti:Sapphire Crystal

Ti:Sapphire crystals are the most popular tunable solid-state laser material because they have the best physical and optical characteristics as well as the largest laser range. The absorption band of Ti:Sapphire is centered at 490 nm, making it suitable as a pump source for a variety of lasers.

Nd:YVO4 Crystal

Nd:YVO4 is one of the promising commercial diode-pumped solid-state laser materials. IIn addition to its optical characteristics, it possesses strong mechanical qualities and a high laser-induced damage threshold. Its large excited emission cross section and high pump laser absorption make it an ideal crystal for pocket lasers.

Cr4+:YAG Laser Crystal

Cr4+:YAG crystals are ideal materials for passive Q-switching of Nd:YAG and Nd and Yb doped lasers. One of its distinguishing features is the high damage threshold.

Bonding Laser Crystals

A laser crystal is combined with one or more undoped materials to form bonded (diffusion bonded) crystals. By using optical contact techniques, they are connected and then further bonded at very high temperatures. The most popular combinations include Nd3+:YAG as a laser medium and Cr4+:YAG as a passive Q-switch. Most bonded laser crystals such as Nd3+:YAG+Cr4+:YAG, Yb3+:YAG+Cr4+:YAG, Nd3+:YAG+V3+:YAG, Er3+:YAG+YAG, Nd3+:YVO4+YVO4 are available with customer's specifications with AR, PR or HR coatings.

  • Lessening of the thermal lens effect.
  • Boost the effectiveness of light-to-light conversion.
  • to raise the threshold for damage prevention.
  • Boost the quality of the laser output beam.
  • Reduced volume.
