Custom Achromatic Lenses

The introduction of chromatic aberration, where the focus length fluctuates with wavelength, is a significant issue with single spherical lenses. However, this can be fixed by employing an achromatic doublet lense, which typically consists of two lenses composed of various types of glass and has many components. The most cost-effective technique to get excellent white light lighting and imaging is probably with achromatic doublet lenses.

Alfa Chemistry can provide achromatic lenses that are made specifically for each customer and their needs. Our highly skilled professionals test every product in our cutting-edge metrology lab to make sure it complies with standards. For further information about your needs for customized achromatic lenses, please get in touch with our technical sales team.

Our Capabilities

Achromatic doublet lenses, which are typically two lenses made of two different glass types and intended to remove first-order chromatic aberrations, can be made by Alfa Chemistry in a range of shapes and quality. The chromatic aberration, or change in focal length with wavelength, that occurs when a single lense is employed to create an image, will always be visible. Achromatic doublet lenses can fix this. The most cost-effective method for obtaining high-quality white light lighting and image is probably to use achromatic doublet holographic lenses.

Advantages and Uses of Custom Achromatic Lenses

We already have a large selection of achromatic doublet lenses with diameters ranging from 4 mm to 110 mm, and we are able to provide both positive and negative focal lengths. Achromatic doublet lenses can also be made to order utilizing infrared components including germanium, silicon, and zinc selenide. Below are examples of our standard manufacturing capabilities. Alternately, we may quickly modify our stock lenses to fit your unique custom specifications.

Material OptionsSchott glass

Alfa Chemistry may also create achromatic aspheric lenses with a spherical surface on one of the surfaces to lessen chromatic and spherical aberrations even more. The aspheric element may be made of polymers for a more affordable alternative or may be made of a different type of glass for more precise imaging.

Coatings

Achromatic lenses can benefit from optical coatings to perform better. Antireflective coatings are frequently used and are designed for the broad wavelength range.

Quality Assurance

Alfa Chemistry's professional metrology lab verifies customers' custom optics. The customer's achromatic lenses are compared to specifications by our professionals.

  • On our interferometer, we examine irregularity, transmission wavefront error, and spherical radius of curvature.
  • For testing focal length and centering errors, we apply them to OptiCentric optics instrument.
  • We examined the optical coating on a spectrophotometer.
  • Prior to shipping, all custom optics are 100% visually inspected. Our crew is highly trained and capable of checking for scratches and dig marks as small as 10/5, which is crucial for lenses used in laser applications.
