Optical Manufacturing

Alfa Chemistry can provide precise optics for clients to strict requirements in a range of forms and sizes thanks to its years of expertise and understanding. Our extensive in-house machining capabilities allow us to manufacture custom substrates in a wide range of material types, shapes, sizes and specifications.

With regard to a range of materials, such as optical glass, fused silica, optical crystals (CaF2 and MfF2), and optical ceramics (spinel), we have expertise and experience in these fields. We are familiar with the behavior of substrate materials and plan the most efficient configurations and process sequences accordingly.

Optical Coatings

To satisfy the distinct spectral, mechanical, laser damage, and environmental requirements of our clients, Alfa Chemistry uses electron beam, IBS, and ion assisted deposition coating processes. A whole range of coatings, such as anti-reflective, broadband AR, short- and long-wave pass filters, high reflectance, are available from us. In a clean room, we check and clean our optics, and we also employ additional methods to create flawless surfaces.

Optical Metrology

Modern metrology tools are used by Alfa Chemistry to confirm the details of customized optical goods. Every stage of processing makes use of metrology to make sure that parts adhere to the strictest quality standards.

  • To precisely measure all flatness criteria, we use a bespoke reference plane with a 6-inch diameter and 1/140lamda resolution.
  • To confirm spectral parameters, we employ a lamda 900 Perkin Elmer and lamda 1050 spectrophotometer.
  • We test a variety of environmental conditions in accordance with Mil Spec requirements.
