Lithium fluoride (LiF) crystals are well suited for the manufacture of optical components for ultraviolet, visible and infrared applications. Its transmission is excellent in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) wavelength range of 150 - 200 nm. LiF is required for transmission in the 0.104 µm to 7 µm range. Its transmission at 121 nm is about 40%, which is one of the most popular materials in the deep UV spectrum.

LiF windows provide high, flat transmission in the 150 nm to 6 µm range. LiF windows are ideal for use as UV transmission windows in spectroscopy applications, as diffractive elements in X-ray spectroscopy, or as IR windows for thermal imaging applications.
