Dielectric Thin Film Mirrors

A dielectric mirror is a mirror consisting of multiple thin layers of dielectric material, usually deposited on a substrate of glass or other optical material. Thin film deposition not only allows for better control of purity and uniformity, but also allows for easier coating of different geometries. By selecting the type and thickness of the dielectric layer, customers can specify an optical coating with a target reflectivity at different wavelengths of light.

Alfa Chemistry offers dielectric film mirrors for laser line, broadband and multi-wavelength applications. In addition, variable reflectance mirrors and laser cavity output couplers are available for use as output mirrors for unstable and stable laser resonators, respectively. These dielectric thin-film mirrors offer higher reflectivity over a wide spectral range of up to several hundred nanometers and have a longer lifetime. The dielectric coating is relatively longer lasting, making the cleaning process easier and more resistant to laser damage.
