Potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KKDP) and potassium dideuterium phosphate (DKDP) crystals are among the oldest nonlinear materials. Both DKDP and KDP exhibit excellent UV transmittance and high damage threshold. The nonlinearity of these crystals is relatively low, and these crystals can be grown in large sizes.

1. Excellent UV transmittance 2. High laser damage threshold 3. Crystals are highly hygroscopic, so a sealed enclosure and dry operating conditions must be ensured.
DKDP and KDP can be used as nonlinear frequency doublers, triplers and quadruples for Nd-doped lasers, and as Q-switching devices for Ti:Sapphire, Alexandrite, Nd-doped lasers.
